Memories of Dad

Dad joined the army aged 18. Most of my childhood consisted of us moving from one place to another. We lived in Cyprus and Germany before moving back to England when I was ten. It certainly made for an exciting childhood and I got to experience life in other countries. When I turned ten, we moved back to England, to a small army base called Middle Wallop. We lived there for four years until he sadly passed away in 1982. I have so many fond memories of those four years. Middle Wallop was a tiny close-knit army community. I remember the Wallop air-shows Dad took me to every year. I remember him taking me to his work, and I got to sit in the various helicopters and planes in the hangars. Most of all I remember the warmth and respect his colleagues greeted him with. He was hugely popular and there was a very good turnout for his funeral. Most of all I remember how he treated me as a father. He was the best I could have asked for. I still miss him all these years later. I know he's watching over me now and I hope I'm making him proud.
